Lesson Plans For Your Special Education Classroom Just Got A Lot EASIER!

September 23, 2018

I have wonderful news! One of my favorite bloggers, and Teachers Pay Teachers authors, Gabrielle, and I have teamed up to bring you some wonderful new products! Gabrielle’s Teaching Special Thinkers has always been one of my go to blogs!

Before I met Gabrielle at the Teachers Pay Teachers conference in 2017, I had been using her TPT products for years. As a teacher, I appreciated her attention to detail and ability to adapt materials to meet the needs of all my learners. Not only are Gabrielle’s products fun for students and easy to implement, they are meaningful, effective, and well-crafted.

Her Easy Art Packs and Adapted Books were the perfect additions to my K-2 self-contained classroom.

Having both taught in self-contained special education classrooms, Gabrielle and I have experienced the difficulties and frustrations of finding appropriate resources to meet the needs of their students. When Gabrielle suggested we collaborate on a resource, my immediate response was YES!

After a few weeks of brainstorming and lots of texts/calls/Snap Chats/Face Times later, we had the answer:Made For Me Literacy Year-Long Bundle For Your Special Education ClassroomThe mission behind Made For Me Literacy is to provide teachers with engaging, comprehensive reading units that are meticulously crafted with special learners in mind. These monthly-themed units span various subject areas, including basic reading, writing, math, science, and fine motor skills.

Differentiation is often a time consuming and tedious process. But not anymore! Many activities included in the Made For Me Literacy curriculum provide two levels of difficulty. Meeting the needs of all your students is easy with the differentiation already done for you. Read more about the activities here.

Each month, we have selected a fiction and non-fiction text to align with the monthly theme. We have compiled a full list of books here, including free read-aloud versions on YouTube and Epic! (which is free for teachers!)

Made For Me Literacy Book ListWe wanted our curriculum to be versatile, differentiated, easy-to-prep, and have the ability to reach every. single. student. With these priorities in mind, and honing in on each of our areas of expertise, she and I created the ultimate list of activities.

Made For Me Literacy Space FreebieWe have also created three FREE mini units about space, pizza, and gingerbreads to give teachers a better feel for the curriculum. The mini unit contains a Story Time pack activity with interactive assessments, a rocket anchor chart printable, vocabulary flashcards, Easy Art activity, visual recipe with reflection log, task boxes, file folders, and cut and paste worksheets. This is a HUGE freebie that we hope represents the thoroughness and high quality materials included in the bundle.

These months can also be purchased individually from month-to-month.

We have a Made For Me Literacy Instagram and love sharing your photos! Tag us, or use the hashtag #madeformeliteracy so we don’t miss any of your posts!

I teach 5/6th graders, do you think this would be appropriate for them or is this mostly for the littles?
